Laura Williams is a lawyer, workplace strategist, educator and professional speaker whose three-decade career sits at the intersection of law, human rights, organizational leadership and workplace culture.

As Founder and Managing Partner of Williams HR Law LLP and President and CEO of Williams HR Consulting Inc., Laura advises boards, executives and senior leadership teams on some of the most complex issues facing today’s workplaces. Her work spans the public, private, education, municipal and not-for-profit sectors and combines legal expertise with a sophisticated understanding of leadership, culture and organizational dynamics.

Laura is widely recognized for her work conducting complex workplace investigations and organizational reviews, particularly matters involving human rights, discrimination, equity, systemic issues and challenging workplace dynamics. She is also frequently engaged following periods of significant conflict, leadership disruption or organizational change to lead workplace restoration and culture transformation initiatives designed to rebuild trust, strengthen accountability and help organizations move forward.

A significant focus of Laura’s work is human rights and strategic equity. She helps organizations navigate difficult and sometimes polarizing issues with rigour, nuance and practicality, moving beyond performative approaches to develop strategies that are legally sound, operationally relevant and capable of producing meaningful organizational change.

Increasingly, Laura’s work addresses a central challenge of the modern workplace: the pace of workplace change has outpaced the leadership development required to effectively lead within it. Expectations around psychological safety, inclusion, accountability, flexibility, employee voice and organizational culture have changed dramatically. Through executive coaching, leadership development and customized corporate education, Laura equips leaders with the judgment, communication skills and practical tools to manage performance, navigate difficult conversations, build trust and unlock the contribution of their teams.

Education has been a defining thread throughout Laura’s career. She is Program Director of the Osgoode Certificate in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace at Osgoode Hall Law School and has taught Labour Relations in the Industrial Relations and Human Resources program at the University of Toronto, where she received the Excellence in Teaching Award. She has guest lectured at leading business schools, including the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, and has designed professional education and certification programming for organizations including the Law Society of Ontario and the Human Resources Professionals Association.

Laura also holds the internationally recognized Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation. She keynotes, moderates and facilitates conferences and leadership forums in Canada and internationally, speaking on leadership, workplace culture, human rights, inclusion, psychological safety, organizational change and the future of work. Known for translating complex issues into accessible and thought-provoking conversations, Laura is also regularly sought by national media, including CTV News, Global News, CBC Radio, The Globe and Mail and the National Post.

Her grounding in public policy began with the Ontario Ministry of Labour, where she contributed to policy development supporting new legislation. She has since served in numerous governance and advisory capacities, including Western University’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Council and the adidas Canada United Against Racism initiative, and has extensive board experience.
